Norma je českou verzí evropské normy EN 12222:1997. Evropská norma EN 12222:1997 má status české technické normy. Tato mezinárodní norma stanoví základní prostředí kondicionování a zkoušení pro hodnocení vlastností obuvi a částí obuvi. Tato norma uvádí dvě prostředí pro kondicionování a zkoušení obuvi a částí obuvi, která se liší teplotou a relativní vlhkostí (RV). Standardní (obvyklé) prostředí je při teplotě 23 °C a RV 50 %.
